Mr D Condie IV very kindly invited our club to the Scotia Tkd Interclub Championships which is normally a closed event, but in this case we were honoured to be able to attend. The competion was well attended and we had the following competitors attend who all did very well. I think we are all hoping we get invited in the future to this most enjoyable event.

Blackbelt Grading
The Derek Gilmour Blackbelt Academy (Full time Martial Arts Centre) based in Linlithgow had 3 students achieve the accolade of blackbelt. This is especially rewarding due to their ages. Beth McKay aged 14 and Alannah Smillie aged 12 from Linlithgow and Marc Fitzcharles aged 13 from Falkirk all achieved their blackbelt. Beth And Alannah both started in the dragons (for 4-6 years olds) programs about 8 years ago and worked their way up through the grades and indeed are the first students to achieve this from starting in the Dragons Program. Marc Started a little later but soon took up the challenge and struck up a friendship with Beth and Alannah which in the end help them all drive through to achieve the status of Blackbelt. This is no mean feat and apart from having to do a Thesis on the subject "My Path to Blackbelt" and a 100 question written theory test on the Korean Terminology, there was also a Full weekend of practical which started with a technical seminar on the Saturday culminating on the Exam on the Sunday. Just when they thought it was all over, they had to meet up at Linlithgow Loch and as a specific task for Students of our academy they had to run round the loch in a set time limit which is another test in there strength of character.
All this showed that they were more than worthy of the Accolade of Blackbelt. Well Done to Beth, Marc and Alannah, you have done the academy, instructor and your familys proud! Now the journey begins on your Blackbelt path
